Trustees

The Trust Board are responsible for the core governance functions of the Cavendish Learning Trust: setting the direction, holding the Chief Executive Officer and Heads of Academy to account and ensuring financial probity.  Academy Trusts are charitable companies and therefore must ensure that they comply with both company and charity law requirements.

Karen Robinson

Chair of the Trust Board Appointed 1st Aug 21 Co-opted

Karen’s career was in the NHS and, during later years, worked as part of the Senior Management Team within Local Authority Children’s services. Karen had board level responsibility for managing and providing mental health, community nursing and Children's / Young Peoples’ Health Services. She has experience in leadership and partnership roles to develop Strategic Improvement plans across Health, Social & Voluntary organisations, including the 5-year Children & Young Peoples’ Plan. Karen has also Chaired various Children's Forums, such as Children's Trust, Looked After Children and Early Years Development.

Dawn Walton

Vice Chair of the Trust Board Reappointed Oct 23 Member appointed

Dawn was a director of Sheffield City Council with a key role ; responsible for commissioning, inclusion and learning.

With a wide and long career in Children and Young Peoples Services, she brings with her a wealth of experience in organisational change and achievements in redesign of early help and inclusion services.

Phil Brown 

Reappointed 1st July 2020 Member Appointed

Phil has worked in both the private and public sector. Phil's main career is in sales management and ultimately working within the senior management team on Business Improvement. UK HR manager for a leading Swedish manufacturer. Phil has strong management skills and excellent relationships with both employees and customers.

Maureen Hemingway

 Appointed 3rd Dec 2020 Member Appointed

Enjoying a long teaching career spanning 30 years working as a classroom teacher and EYFS leader, a member of the Senior Leadership Team and Senior Leader of Education. Maureen has also worked in further education and higher education is a teacher of English as an Additional Language. As an early years specialist, Maureen has worked with the National College of School Leadership, working with aspiring head teachers across the Yorkshire and Humber Region as well as supporting the development and successful delivery of early years and children’s centres on school sites.
